Shabu Pub

Our craving for Shabu-shabu came on a hot summer Thursday night. We had spotted Shabu Pub on a recent trip to Land Park and thought it was worth giving it a try. Upon arriving we were surprised at how large the restaurant was — it could easily seat 75-100 people. The space was full of light and ultra clean. We grabbed a table and saw the all-you-can-eat option and immediately knew what we wanted! For $30/person we received our choice of pork, lamb, beef, or seafood and two selections of broth from their wide selection. We ended up having a variety of proteins over the course of the meal and picked the Tonkotsu (rich and mild) and Schezwan (lots of curry and spicy) broths for our pot. We loved the Tonkotsu broth!

The service was extremely attentive and quick to refill our protein and vegetable plates with exactly what we wanted. They did request that we do our best not to waste any food and we happily obliged.

The meal was capped with free ice cream cones, featuring local Gunthers' ice cream.

Happy Hour is from 4-6pm for a discount on your total bill. They also have a frequent diner card which can save you some bucks if you come back a few times.

Tip: If you've never had shabu-shabu before, the literal translation is "swish swish," which is how you should cook your meat. Dunk it in the boiling broth 3 times quickly to cook it, then give it a sauce bath and devour! Anthony demonstrates below:
