OneSpeed Pizza

Our first experience at OneSpeed came on the strong recommendation of some friends who were tired of hearing us complain that we couldn't find a good pizza place here in Sacramento. With skepticism we joined them for dinner on a Sunday evening.
We were immediately blown away by the neighborhood feel of this place. It's tucked into a not-very-glitzy spot on Folsom Blvd and when you walk in the door, it has a casual vibe that is very homey — the kind of home we fantasize about that includes a huge pizza oven, of course. As we waited for our friends to arrive we grabbed a seat at the large wood bar and ordered a carafe of red wine. We were impressed with the wide selection of wine from around the region and Italy.
When we got our table, we ordered a traditional Italian antipasto plate with cured meats, cheese, olives, marinated veggies and a surprise addition of chicken liver mousse.
For pizza we selected a traditional margarita and a custom creation called the "Original Rick's" which was a white pizza with mortadella and potato. Both were excellent with chewy crust and just the right amount of toppings. This is the fold in half-type pizza and we scarfed each piece with delight.
We also found a little indulgence in dessert with the Pot de Creme to share.
Later, when we heard that OneSpeed was the word of Rick Mahan, chef and owner of The Waterboy we knew why we liked it so much.

Tip: Their house red wine is a custom blend of Sangiovese from one of our favorite Amador County wineries, Vino Noceto. It is amazing.
